Pre-Grade is the start of your Kenridge learning journey.

We cater for learners who are 4, turning 5 years old in their Pre-Grade R year, offering dual medium education. Through our child-centred approach, we strive to create a warm and stimulating environment, where learners are encouraged to work at their own pace towards reaching their full potential. Essential life skills are taught and developed through discussions and learners are provided the opportunity for experimentation and discovery. We continually provide stimulation for the development of fine and gross motor control, visual and auditory perception, as well as body and spatial awareness. We never lose sight of the fact that the creative process is more important than the final result. Our class sizes allow our well-qualified educators the opportunity to provide each learner with the individual attention and input required.

Our daily programme includes:

Theme-related discussion

Construction

Music and movement

Literacy and mathematics concept development

Fantasy play

Perceptual games

A wide range of creative activities

Sensory play

Story time

The role of play is vital to a child’s social integration and physical development; therefore, our timetable allows ample time for both indoor and outdoor exploration. Our programme is also complemented by weekly physical education lessons, presented by one of the primary school’s qualified educators.

We aim to promote independence and self-confidence, by developing a positive self-image within all children. We emphasise the social and emotional skills of well-developed manners, friendship, empathy, sharing and co-operation. These skills enable our learners to flourish and enjoy their Pre-Grade R year.

The Pre-Grade R year introduces the child to the joy of learning and provides a sound foundation for future education to build upon.
