Grade R forms the first year of the Foundation Phase.

We guide learners to reach their full potential, in an enjoyable, safe and stimulating environment. We offer dual medium education to children who are 5, turning 6 years old in their Grade R year.

Our play-based approach encourages learners to think critically and divergently, to cope independently and to problem-solve creatively. The Grade R programme is diverse and encompasses the development of the whole child and how he/she perceives his/her world. It meets the requirements stipulated in the Curriculum Assessment Policy Statement, which includes Mathematics, Home Language and Life Skills.

We aim to develop and build a good self-concept by creating situations in which our young learners are able to achieve success. We facilitate a sense of self-worth in our learners, which includes being respected by peers and teachers alike.

Our main objective is to achieve a level of readiness for formal schooling. We aim to equip each learner with the skills and knowledge they require to thrive in Grade One. We, therefore, offer a dynamic and fun-filled daily programme which exposes the young child to situations and experiences to assist him/her in acquiring the readiness skills needed.

It is a privilege to be under the “parentage” of the Primary School. We are, therefore, able to complement our programme with the use of their excellent facilities.

Our learners enjoy the benefit of Movement Education, Computers, Coding and Robotics and Xhosa tuition from their professional educators.

Our School-based Support Team and on-site therapists are on hand to assist should any developmental delays or barriers to learning be present.

We trust that our learners and their parents will experience the thrilling, exciting, educational adventure that Grade R is all about.
